The Textual Microcosms team presented a panel at the ASEAS Conference 2025, held at St John’s College, University of Cambridge on 15-17 September 2025.

Fadhli Lukman discussed Surau Texts Translated: Translation in Form, Textual Analysis in Substance, focusing on the Malay–Minangkabau tradition.

Keiko Kamiishi presented Writing Reverence: Honorific Practices in Javanese and Balinese Kakawin Translations.

Mery Tambaria D. Ambarita explored Batak oral culture in her talk, Peeling Back the Layers: Exploring the Batak Proverb “Nipis mantat neang, hapal mantat dokdok”.
 
Textual Microcosms Annual Workshop 2025
On May 28-29 2025 the Textual Microcosms team held its fourth annual workshop. In addition to talks by all project members (see program) we listened to a lecture by Prof. Edwin Wieringa from Cologne University and to remarks by Visiting Fellow Dr. Tony Day from Graz.
